BMT to go

Hoy para cambiar la rutina nos la pasamos por la casa de Shereen and Tim en el área de Seattle que se llama Freemont. Virginia vino "temprano" en taxi. Luego de que le hicimos un bronchito (digo, nuevo spanglish) y de oir música. Shereen vino temprano y hablamos un montón. Luego nos fuimos a dar un "paseito" que duró varias horas haciendo "window shopping"una malteada y un poquito de merienda en un restauran griego. Terminamos con un paseito viendo las casas flotantes y una caminata cuesta arriba hasta la casa de los Morsingtons. Casi nos comemos unas hamburguesas y terminamos pidiendo ensalada y pizza. Virginia hizo como Plá que come y se va porque tenía que darse su dosis de Potasio y Magnesio endovenoso. La llevamos a la casa con el Jack Johnson a todo lo que da "Better when whe're together". Exactamente

Today we changed the routine. Whe spent the day at Shereen and Tim's and around their house in dowtown Freemont. Virginia took a taxi "early" to the Morsington's. Meline and I made a a litlle "bronchito" (new spanglish word. Shereen came early and we had a little talk fest. She stayed finishing some applications and Virginia and us went walking for several hours. We had a little milk shake and a snack in a greek restaurant. We finished the walkabout going to see some of the famous floating houses and going uphill for the return trip to the Morsingstons. We almost had some fine burguers from the famous Red Mill but the time did not let that happen then we had pizaza and salad. Virginia eat and had to leave because she had to do the intravenous Magnesium and Potassium treatment. So we took her home with Jack Johnson full volume "Better when whe're together". Exactly

Bueno, Virginia tuvo una biopsia de médula ósea esta mañana y está reevaluando los beneficios de que te la hagan bajo anestesia. Resulta que la anestesia no le "prendia" y le diero una dosis "saludable" del cocktelito, al final le dio nausea y ha vomitado par de veces y esta en casa descansando por hoy. La semana pasada se la pasaron con Ignacio y con mucha energia. Los valores sanguineos siguen subiendo por las nubes todo lo que viene de la linea roja esta casi normal y lo de la linea blanca siguen aumentando cada dia mas. Nada de infecciones y con mucha limpieza sigue todo marchando a buen ritmo. Meline y yo llegamos ayer en la tarde y nos la pasamos en amol con Virginia y Ana. Nos dimos una carnita en Outback y nos mimimos temprano por que Virgi tenia que levantarse temprano. Más informaciones luego

Virginia tuvo un respiro de tanto "apoyo". Se fué la tia Jeanny pero ya llegó hoy Don IGF.Por el libro y mejor que lo que se pudiese anticipar asi es como va el asunto del transplante. Virginia tiene 800 de neutrofilos (tipo de glóbulo blanco), la hemoglobina está en 12 y el hematocrito esta en 31. Virginia no veia numeritos asi hace muchisisimo tiempo. Esta que se rie sola, no la pinchen porque todavia no está del otro lado. Por ratos no le parece justo a Virginia que ella se esté sintiendo tan bien, que todo esté saliendo bien. Esta esperando a que se joda la vaina, todos estamos contentos pero todavia apretados. Los efectos secundarios todavia siguen pero mucho mas disminuidos. El apetito esta muy bine conciderando que la mitad de las vainas le saben a masilla y la otra mitad a masill muy dulce o muy salada. Virginia extraña horriblemente a los mello. Gina y Paco están demasiado lejos y ahora que Virginia se empieza a sentir mejor se hace mas duro estar separada de ellos. para entretenerse Virginaesta un circulo de lectura en el edificio donde está y piensa empezar un grupo de cinéfilos tambien. Estamos en el dia +19 y Virginia no se va hasta despues del dia +90. Los primeros noventa dias post transplante son los de mayor morbilidad y mortalidad así que tiene que quedarse cerca del "home" para evitar cualquier problema que pueda suceder. Eso es todo por hoy.

Virginia had a break from so much "support". Aunt Jeanny left but IGF arrived today. By the book and much better than expected is how Virginia is doing with the transplant thing. Virginia has 800 Neutrophiles ( a kind of white blood cell), hemoglobin is 12(molecule that transport oxygen) and the hematrocrit is 31 (percentage of cells in the blood). Virginia had not seen numbers like this in a long long time. She is very happy and almost in a dream just no pinching for now because she is not over this yet. Sometimes it seems to Virginia that it is not just that she is doing so well and also scared that it might not be as good as it seems and things might turn for the worse. You know happy but fearful. The side effects are still present but continue to diminish and the appetite is good if you take into account the half the food tastes like plasticine and the other half like too sweet or too salty plasticine. Virginia missess the twins terribly. Gina and Paco are too far and now that Virginia feels better is tougher to be separated from them. Virginia is starting a book club in her apartment building and is also coignt to start a movie club. No more knitting for now. We are in the day +19 of the transplant and Virginia will stay in Seattle until after the day+90. This first nintey days are the most dangerous regardind morbidity and mortality so she will have to stay close to HQ to make sure nothing happens and to cut off any untoward developments.That is all for today.

Virginia sigue en casa aunque la apearon del cine tiene un montón de Netflix y tia Jeanny le está ayudando en la recuperacion con cariño masticable y del bueno. Ya ligaron un sitio cerca que vende yuca y platanos. ESta noche se le dio una cocinaita aunque los talentos culinarios de tia tienen que vencer los problemas gustativos de Virginia por lo de la quimio que le afcto las papilas gustativas y las cosas tienes que estar o moy dulces o muy saladas para que le sepan a algo. Virginia sigue en su vertiginiosa recuperacion y disfrutanco del cariño y los añoños que todo el mundo le dan. Hoy fueron paseos y peliculas. Como dice Virginia "le he cogido un gustito a la vida"...

Bueno, bueno señores. Virginia esta en la casa las predicciones se cumplieron. Ella tiene que tratar de concentrarse para el asunto de sacar los números. Vamos a ver si saca los numeros del Powerball. Tia Jeanny dice que ella fue la que trajo la suerte y al otro dia de haber llegado se la llevo para el pantamento. Virginia está super contenta de estar de nuevo en casa. Mucho cariño, paceitos en el vecindario. Definitivamente lo de la peluca no va y esta en pañuelos. La quimio le dio con "new age". Don Ignacio y Doña Arlene de vuelta a Kissimmee y estuvieron en la lucha con Virginia dandole mucho "soporte". Shereen y Tim dieron muchisimo soporte y Tim fue quien le dio la bola a Virginia cuando le dieron de alta. Los problemas intestinales y los demas efectos secundarios continuan pero nada mal. hasta ahora nada de infecciones y todo parece ir viento en popa a toda vela.

Well,well, well. Virginia is at home since yesterday and aunt Jeannie said that it was all because of her. Virgipredictionsitions came true and she will concentrate and get some numbers now. We are going to be working on the Powerball numbers for next week. Virginia is super happy about going home and is having walks around the neighborhood. She is using colorful handkerchiefs in her head as she does not like the wig thing. Apparently one of the side effects of the chemo is going "new age". Don Ignacion and Doña Arlene are back in goood old Kissimmee after being in the fight and giving a lot of support. Shereen and Tim gave and continue to give tons of support and love. Tim took Virginia home when she was discharged from the Hospital. Some problems with her intsestines and tastebud but nothing major. So far no infections and continues to be smooth sailing.

Señores, parece que los doctores están leyendo el blog y se asustaron con lo que escribí. Esta mañana le dijero que todo va muy bien y que si sigue así y deja de necesitar el suero de kriptonita (nutrición endovenosa) la van a despachar para su "pantamento" en un par de dias. Los valores sanguineos siguen subiendo (con un par de transfusiones de trampita) y se siente con un poco más de energia. El hambre sigue mal pero ella sigue tratando de comer. El dolor de la boca ha mejorado pero los "malestares intestinales" van y vienen. Los huesos siguen doliendo con "un dolor caliente", mayormente los huesos pélvicos (cadera). Entre los malestares y los dolores de cadera no se si esta en el hospital por un transplante o por un parto. Don Ignacio y Doña Arlene están de vuelta a Kissimmee y tia Jeanny ya llegó a Seattle y se va a pasar la noche con Virginia. Que siga la rumba!

Virginia sigue mejorando poco a poco le siguen pasando la TPN (alimentacion endovenosa) que en su caso es de un verdecito fosforencente de lo mas que se yo. Cuando se la estan pasando parece como una pelicula de ciencia ficción. Ahora entiendo que la bufanda verde es una alegoria a la nutrición endovenosa.El dolor de la boca a disminuido notablemente aunque ahora no hay mucho que comer con la alimentacion endovenosa. Virginia pidio un sanduchito pero no se lo pudo comer porque le sabía a masilla. Lo que si puede saborear son las cosas dulces y se comió medio flan de coco que le llevaron. Virginia esta clavada en que se va a poder ir a casa (apartamento en Seattle). Esperamos por el bien de los doctores que eso se de. Hoy empezaron a dolerles las piernas y es porque la médula ya empezó a producir. Las plaquetas de están subiendo!!!! Todavia falta un buen trecho pero es increible que ya estemos viendo los resultados del transplante. Don Ignacio y Doña Arlene se van mañana buuuuuh(05.Abril.2006). Tia Jeanny releva en Seattle, luego viene Iñigo y Meline y yo vamos el 18 de Abril.

Virginia continues to improve little by little. She is still taking intravenous feeding which is of a very interesting phosphorecent green. When she is being infused it looks like a science fiction film. I see now that the green scarf is a metaphor for the intravenous food. The pain in the mouth has diminished although there is not much to eat at present. Virginia ordered a cheese sandwich but could not eat it because "it tasted like plasticine". She can taste sweet things though and she did eat half a coconut flan that was brought to her. Virginia is set on leaving the hospital next week. I hope it is so for her doctor's health. Today Virginia started having pain in her legs and this is a sign that her new bone marrow has started to produce blood. Her platelets are in the rise!!! There is still a ways to go but it is incredible that we can already see results from the transplant. Don Ignacio and Doña Arlene are leaving tomorrow (04.05.06) buuuuuh!. Aunt Jeanny is coming this week and Iñigo after her. On the 18th Meline and I are coming.

Antes que nada mis mas sentidas disculpas. Estuve con una torticolis del mismisimo diablo y no pude escribir mucho. Antes de empezar con Virginia quiero decirles que el Blog es interactivo y se pueden dejar comentarios al pie de cada episodio. Virginia los leera y respondera cuando esté mas . Virginia a tenido un fin de semana medio duro. La mucositis ha empeorado por lo que la garganta, boca y esófago estan inflamados y duelen mucho. En estas condiciones se hace dificil comer y hablar. Virginia esta aprovechando la oportunidad para probar morfina y le ha gustado. Sigue super peleadora y por fin se le esta callendo el cabello. Le dieron algo the nutricion endovenosa y esta tratando de comer yogur y malteadas de proteinas para no perder mucho peso. Los doctores estan contentos con el progreso de Virginia. Nada horrible, solo las cosas que pasan en el curso de un transplante de médula.

My sincerest apologies for the lack of postings, I had the neck cramp from hell since Friday afternoon and did not let go until Sunday. Something else, blogs are interactive and you can make comments at the bottom of every post. Virginia will read them and respond if she feels strong enough. Virginia's weekend was a little tough with increasing inflamation of mouth, throat and esophagus. It hurts to swallow so she has been eating yogurt and protein shakes. She also had some intravenous nutrition to help her with keeping the weight on. She took the oportunity to try out morphine and she has liked it so far. Doctors are happy wiht her progress. Nothing really bad has happened just the day to day expected things of a bone marrow transplant.
